Food Nutrition - Diet Therapy

Introduction

Diet therapy is a course that combines pathology, nutrition assessment, pharmacology, clinical treatment and physiology. Students will learn to prevent and treat diseases through food, which is to design a balanced dietary menu to the patients with the objective of controlling the condition of the patients through consuming adequate nutrition.

Graduates may work as a diet therapist in the government or private hospitals, or the nursing homes. Other than that, graduates may choose to engage in research in the government department, for instance, MARDI, PORIM and IMR. On the other hand, students can opt to work in the private medical research organization, food and agricultural or other related enterprise as a researcher, analyser or a consultant.
